Transmitters are programmed to record a location every 15 minutes. In order to reduce the amount of data we’re uploading to the website, we condense each swan’s GPS points to a single trajectory of locations.

In the map below, if you hover over a point or line the ID of the swan will be shown. The button under the +/- zoom button in the upper left corner gives the option of other base layers (e.g. OpenStreetMap, Satellite Imagery, etc). It is also possible to turn on and off the location data for the swans collared in each state as well as the first and final locations (labeled in the drop-down as “cc_pts-pt_label”).

You can also zoom into a specific region by holding down the shift key and selecting the area you want to view. If you’d like to zoom and center the map on an individual state click on the boxes in the lower right hand corner of the map.
